Efficient land water irrigation

The most important region where you save the water is while doing the irrigation. It is important to have periodic check in your farms, lawns or garden if at all there is any waste of water.

Some water saving techniques to implement while irrigation are given below:

1. Don't over water the farm or lawns. They generally need water every 5 to 7 days in the summer and every 10 to 14 days in the winter. Heavy rain even eliminates that the need of water for as long as two weeks.
2. Periscope landscaping is a great way to design, install and maintain both your plantings and irrigation system. It saves your time, money and water.
3. Water lawns or farms during the early morning hours when temperatures and wind speed are low so that there is no evaporation.
4. Don't water your street, driveway or sidewalk of the farm, garden or lawns. Position the sprinklers such that they water lawn and shrubs.
5. Micro, drip irrigation and soaker hoses are examples of efficient land water irrigation.
6. Check sprinkler systems and timing devices regularly implemented in your farm. Make sure that you fit the sprinkler with rain sensor device. It automatically stops as it senses the rain.
7. Avoid over fertilizing your lawn instead use compost, which can retain much water, and for longer time. However if fertilizers is used it should contain slow-release, water-insoluble forms of nitrogen.
8. Mulch is the best thing to retain moisture in the soil and it also helps to control weeds that compete with plants for water.
9. Plant native or drought tolerant grasses, ground covers, shrubs and trees because they do not need water as frequently and they usually survive a dry period.
10. Fit the hose with a shut-off nozzle, which can be adjusted down to a fine spray also.
11. Use hose washers between spigots and water hoses to detect and further eliminate leaks. Regular check up of all hoses, connectors and spigots is necessary.
12. Try and avoid leaving sprinklers or hoses unattended.
13. Try to locate the way for minimal losses due to evaporation and wind drift.
