Moths are great problem for human beings. They have been here since there have been animals with long hair. They feed on natural fibers. Moths have got the unique ability to turn keratin in to food. Keratin is a protein available in wool, fur and many other natural materials. Carpets in the house are generally made out of wool or fur, so you would find them in plenty on the carpet.

Carpet moths possess a special enzyme. This enzyme works in the digestive track of the moth to for food for them. Although they prefer natural hairs and fabric fibers, moths are found to eat just about anything. They can eat any thing from snakeskin, beef to any type of meal, milk products, finger nail clippings, human hair, pet hair, wool, cotton, silk, furniture, insulation, carpets etc. They can even eat both natural and synthesized leather and bees wax. They appear to be able to eat anything however they are not able to prosper on this diet. The moth takes advantage of all that is available. But it will always intake a supply of something that is needed as their nutrients. However sprays and pesticides you use to drive them away they are going to come back. Dusting is the only and the best option that will keep them away from your carpet. Rather it will work the best on the carpet moths. Sprays and any other use of pesticides do not work best on them. That is because moths make there dwelling in the slots of molding of the carpet, which is wall to wall. Liquid sprays or aerosols cannot reach them in the molding. Dusting is best suited in driving away the moths. Dusting done with deltamethrin dust is used to hand dust. It is odorless and moisture less powder. It makes the moth heavy and makes it fall on the floor and out of the molding. This dust remains for more than six months to year.
