Use dry soap powder

Pesticide use has reached gigantic proportions. Our homes are saturated with chemical pesticides that are liberally used for exterminating household pests and keeping our home environment squeaky clean. In this scenario of pesticide overkill, many people have started a search for ecological alternatives. These environment-friendly options include the time-tested remedy of using dry soap flakes or dry soap powder to eliminate pests. Remember soap has been around for centuries and was widely used for keeping many common pests at bay.

Soap and pests

Soap is nontoxic for humans but deadly for common pests. This household wisdom long known to housewives, is now common knowledge. Soap powder, when mixed with water, and squirted on roaches, ants, flies and geckos, will instantly kill them. Soap formulations are akin to chemical sprays for these household pests. Soap should be diluted with water for more convenient applications. Soap can be liberally sprinkled in the cracks and crevices of walls where common pests hide and procreate. Powdered soap is pure poison, especially for ants and roaches. Try to exterminate anthills and roach nests with soap powder mixed with water; it is a pesticide-free option that delivers good results. Again, soap is an easily available commodity that is a low-priced item. Soap is then the perfect solution for keeping pest populations down.

Soap as pest deterrent

Soap may be used as a deterrent to pests. Applying a thin coat of soapy powder to the outside and inside of your garbage can will render it pest-free. Alternately, dry soap flakes may be sprinkled around the garbage can to discourage pests from swarming onto rotting garbage. Soap has proved its efficacy in roach control; soap powder should be dusted into corners and crevices where roaches shelter. Roaches are instantly repelled by soap powder; on accidental ingestion of soap powder, roaches die. Soap can be used to clean kitchen cabinets to discourage pest populations. A thin film of soap deliberately left behind will act as a strong pest repellant.

Soap it then a versatile pest control strategy. Soap is safe, nontoxic and inexpensive. It has been widely used by housewives and is an environmentally sound alternative to expensive and toxic pesticides.
