Introduction:

Planting shrubs:

To plant shrubs, deep holes need to be dug so as to give enough room for roots to spread and reach water beneath. The soil can be mixed with peat moss while planting the shrub. After placing the plant, the rest of the hole is filled up with loose soil. The planted shrub should be well watered especially in dry season. The shrubs thus planted can be trimmed and shaped under an expert to give the lawn the desired effect. There are many types of shrubs like red twig dogwood, shrub roses, and hydrangeas that can be planted on the lawns.

Caring for shrubs

The basic caring kit for shrubs comes in a package of proper watering, fertilization, controlling pests and trimming or shaping. Mostly, shrubs require to be watered when they are small as the roots are not deep enough to search for water on their own. As they grow, you may have to pay a little less attention. Shrubs grow well on organic fertilizers. Mostly mulch is an excellent fertilizer for growing shrubs. However, if you have a good quality soil, then role of fertilizers should be kept minimum. The shrubs, which are pest resistant, should be planted around the lawns. They can even act as pest repellents for lawns. However, if your shrubs themselves are having pest problems then organic pesticides can be used. Shrub trimming depends upon the type of shrubs planted. in terms of flowering shrubs; the shrubs should be trimmed one month after blooming. Some shrubs on lawns are shaped in many delightful shapes and forms. However, expert's help is needed here. Sometimes shrubs can also be replanted on your lawns from other places.

Pros and cons of shrubs:
They give your space enhanced look and break the monotony of the lawns. They also define the lawns very well. Besides, giving it an aesthetic appeal. However, shrubs require care and management. If planted in the wrong place, they can create many problems like pests and unwanted shade, which can be hazardous for your lawns.

With proper care and management, the pros can surpass the cons leaving you with a picture perfect lawn.
