1) Feng shui experts suggest on having the cooking stove in a commanding position. Having the stove in the center of the kitchen is said to be ideal. Also, they recommend great usage of kitchen islands for placing the stove. If the stove is placed in the central position, it provides the full view of the kitchen and surrounding areas.
2) Feng shui also discards the use of fluorescent light in the kitchen. Fluorescent lights have a tendency to flicker constantly, which is not good for the eyes as well as for the nervous system.
3) Also, the cooking range, refrigerator and sink must be placed in a preferably triangular position. There should be a distance of about 6-8 feet between the three points as it facilitates easy but minimum movements. This is known as the traditional triangle model.
4) According to feng shui it is better to avoid having a window above the stove. This is because according to the tradition, stove represents prosperity and having a window over it would imply that the prosperity is going out from the window.
5) According to feng shui the kitchen must always be kept neat, clean and uncluttered. Any broken items and appliances must be removed immediately, even if the damage is a minor one.
