Solar shields are the solar panels fitted on the roofs, windows and windowpanes of your house. The panel is flat metal body covering the surface of the roof or windowpanes. As soon as the light falls on these solar cells, the cells get activated and it generates the light, which could be used to run other appliances. Solar screens are also called as shade screens or sunscreen or solar shields. Solar screens prevent sun from entering a window. These can be installed on windows, which are exposed to direct sunlight. Shade screens are easy to install, as they are lightweight and durable. Along with sunlight and heat, solar screen will prevent insects, mosquitoes and other creeping creatures from entering the house. Solar screens are specially designed to block fifty to ninety percent of the energy striking outside the window. The term shading coefficient is associated directly to the solar screen. It describes the amount of heat that penetrates the screen. Lower the shading coefficient less is the energy getting through.


Right size matters

It is very important to ensure certain things before installing the solar screens.

1. The size of your house is an important factor. It is also important to take into consideration the number of windows that are there in your house.
2. If your house lies in the shadow of trees then having solar shields on the roof would be useless. But if the windows are into direct exposure to the sunlight then it is always advisable to have solar screen fitted on the window.
3. Before installing any cooling device it is important for you to check if there is any air leakage in your house. As the air leakage will not enable to keep your house cool.
4. Lastly you should know the amount of heat that is generated by electric appliances that you are using.
