Earthquake coverage can be a separate policy or an endorsement to homeowners or renters policy. This type of policy is available in most insurance companies. In earthquake prone states, the policy comes with a high interest rates. It is the person's responsibility to take reasonable precautions to protect the home from damage. The insurance policy will not cover damage due to lack of maintenance, mold, termite infestation and infestation from other pests.
