Solar Pool Heating - Energy of the Sun
How Does Solar Pool Heater Function? Energy from the sun is the solar energy and it is just another fuel to heat the pool. The water that is circulated through the filter using the pump is automatically diverted so that it flows through the many small passages of solar collector. Water is heated by the sun when passed through the collector. The water then flows back directly into the pool. In this operation, the water goes from pool to pump, from pump to filter, from filter to collectors and then into the pool. When the water in the pool has reached the desired temperature the water bypasses the solar collector and returns to the pool. It is recommended that the solar collectors be placed where maximum amount of sun rays fall during the day. Solar Heater Collectors While choosing a collector, get an unglazed one as this collector delivers heat more effectively to the pool than the covered collectors. Moreover, uncovered collectors are less expensive when compared to the covered collectors. Solar pool heater requires not much of maintenance beyond the usual pool winterizing procedures. The operating cost of the solar heater is almost zero as the energy from the sun is free. The cost of installing an electric pump is generally compared to the cost of a solar heating system. The annual cost of electricity to run a heat pump could be two thirds of the cost of natural gas or one-third the cost of electricity for conventional resistance electric heater, but the sun's energy is free. The cold swimming pool is mostly used only in summer and remains unused during the harsh winters. The implementation of solar pool heaters is cost effective and enhances the enjoyment of swimming and also adds value to the home. Proper sizing and installation along with quality product are primary concerns when considering a solar heater for the pool. Solar pool heaters are an investment.
