Introduction:

The spurs attached to the auger draws the bits into the wood and the two nibs cut deeply in the fiber ensuring a smooth and clean job. This tool is very useful for plumbers, carpenters, electricians and all those who deal with wood on daily basis. Wood auger bits are most commonly made from carbon steel, which ensures its durability. A good wood auger provides you with polished, clean and a finished look to your wood.

Purchase and management:

Wood auger bits can be purchased from reputable manufactures or hardware stores. They are available in sets of thirteen tools ranging in different shapes and sizes. Though Auger bits require little maintenance, they can be dulled with age. They can be sharpened by using a fine file or oilstone. For proper management, the use of auger bits should not be generalized beyond their well-specified use. On no account should they be used for driving nails or on other heavy metal. The auger bit should be cleaned and lubricated properly after every use.

With a little but of care and management, wood augers can remain durable and efficient for a very long time.
