There are a large number of tools that are used in daily life for different purposes. Not just for commercial uses but also even for domestic purposes, people use several instruments. In fact for gardening work and minor home repairs, certain tools are imperative. Tools like hammers, utility knives, clamps and bolts are some of the tools that make their mark in every home. One tool that makes an appearance in this list are the pliers. Pliers are the real multi-purpose devices used in homes.

Pliers in Use

Pliers are basically hand tools. The pliers have gripping jaws and sharp edges. Though the pliers look similar to scissors or shears, there are several distinguishing factors in their design and in their usage. The handle of the pliers is long and generally curved to the outside. Also, the tips of the jaws of the pliers meet each other at one point always. The jaws of the pliers work similar to levers. In fact, the main function of the pliers is to use the leverage and grip the objects. Pliers can be used for innumerable purposes. Functions like gripping, pulling, turning and crimping are easily done with the help of the pliers. Even cutting hard or stubborn objects and materials can be done with the help of the pliers. Pliers are also used greatly for holding hot objects. At home pliers are used in gardens, for doing minor automobile repairs, for repairing any metal products and for many such aims. The pliers allow the individual to get an extremely firm grip by curling his fingers around the handle of the pliers into the palm of the hand. This grip is also known as power grip.

There are several types of pliers available for different purposes. Some of the commonly used pliers include combination pliers, flat nose pliers, locking pliers, wire stripping pliers and pinching pliers. Especially if an object cannot be handled directly or is hazardous to the health then the pliers are the perfect tools to rely on. Generally in most homes pliers are used to pull out screws, nails and bolts that are fixed very firmly in the walls.

The pliers are actually the friends of every handyman and home owner. Without them most jobs are difficult to complete.
