Feng Shui School
The Form School The Form School focuses on the study of the landscape contours, the shapes of the hills and watercourses. The prior study is concerned with the positioning of buildings and burial sites. Positioning of the hills is essential to provide protection from the wind i.e. Feng, and for the provision of a good water i.e. Shui without flooding. The Form School approach focuses mainly on finding auspicious landforms, especially the hseuh embraced by the hills called the Tiger and the Dragon. This is achieved by studying the contours of the hills surrounding a site, and determining whether their form will bring good or bad luck. Compass School The Compass School for their predictions uses the Eight Trigrams of the I Ching and relates them with the eight points of the Compass. An eight -sided Pa Kua is used to interpret the auspicious and inauspicious locations for the buildings, house floor plans and room layouts.
