The gua is the area in the apartment that one wishes to enhance. According to feng shui experts there are nine specific areas that make up each one's life. Each area in the apartment or living area represents a different aspect in life. A bagua diagram which specifies each of these areas can be used to feng shui the apartment.

The nine guas in an apartment

The nine main areas or guas into which the apartment is divided into are the Fame and Reputation gua, the Relationships and Love gua, the Creativity and Children gua, the Helpful People and Travel gua, the Career and Life Path gua, the Skills and Knowledge gua, the Family gua, the Prosperity gua and the Health gua at the centre. These areas are located in a clockwise direction beginning with the Fame and Reputation gua at the top. The different areas in an apartment can be found out by using this bagua map. Standing at the threshold of the door and facing into the room, this area map helps to locate the different areas in one's apartment.

Feng shui for apartment's gua

Using feng shui for the apartment' gua will work if the feng shui expert will determine what objects are placed in a particular area and if there are any objects which should not be in the specific gua of the apartment. For instance, if there is a waste paper basket in the Prosperity gua, it is obvious that the apartment owner may find his fortunes dwindling. According to feng shui, prosperity follows the principle of like attracting like. Hence a waste paper basket is a definite no in this area.

Using bagua diagram to feng shui an apartment

If one stands with the bagua diagram at the threshold of the door facing into the room of the apartment, with the Skills, Career and the Helpful People guas closest to oneself, one can easily ascertain which area in the apartment signifies which gua.
