Oakland was founded in the year of 1852. It is an American city that lies on the eastern shore of the San Francisco bay in northern California. According to the latest 2000 US census the city has a population of 399,484 which makes it the third most populated town in the region of San Francisco. The city including the rest of the US experienced a major boom in the economic sector mainly by the post war recoveries, the discoveries of oil fields in the adjacent city of Los Angeles and by the wide introduction of automobiles in those times. The city records an average annual temperature of 55F or 13C. The average annual rainfall is 23 inches and most the precipitation is found to occur in the months of November to March.
