Curbing

Curbing is basically a continuous border that will stop unwanted grass and weeds from invading the flowerbeds. Curbing can be done using different materials such as wood, metals like iron or steel, plastic, concrete and even granite. Curbing also gives the property a clean and beautiful appearance and helps in raising the value of the property.

Why is curbing necessary?

Traditional lawn edging methods did not take into account the use of lawn mowers. These machines not only cut down grass but may also damage the lawn edging in case it is made of a material such plastic or wood. Besides curbing gives a clean look to the lawn or landscape. It gives a frame to the designed landscape and also increases the property value. Curbing may be also used to serve as property or fence borders, and around driveways and pathways too.

How is curbing done?

Curbing is basically providing an edge or border to the lawn or landscape. Curbing may also be done for roads or gardens and parks. The area to be curbed need not be disturbed and the work may not involve more than a couple of days depending upon the area that requires curbing. Besides, curbing requires less equipment and can be easily done using locally available material. Traditionally curbing was done using materials such as wood, iron or plastic. However concrete curbing now seems to be the better option, as it does not rot away like wood nor rust like iron. It also is more durable than plastic and can face just about any weather with equal ease.

Curbing resources

Curbing contractors can be hired to do the curbing activity for any lawn or landscape. This project generally requires an experienced curbing contractor and one or two helpers to do the installation. Concrete curbing is done with the help of concrete curbing machines, which can also set concrete curbing with different colors and designs.
